After your vote of only three years ago, the Cambrian School District decided that they could come back to you instead of having to make some tough decisions.
Measure A passed with 69% of the vote. Now they only need 50% of the vote for this tax renewal to pass.
However, unlike two years ago, The Community Center between Price and Fammatre has been built. The new basketball courts have been built. The new playing fields have been laid. There was a rush to build these new facilities in the middle of an economic downturn.
Have you been to the Community Center? It lies vacant most of the time. Have you seen the new basketball courts being used? We haven't.
Our point is the needed facilities have been built. We have a hard time believing that it requires the same amount of money to maintain these facilities as it took to build them. Do you have to pay, every few years, the equivalent cost of a new house in order to maintain your existing house? The district's math just doesn't add up.
The whole point of the Gann Appropriation Limits is to force school districts, among other government agencies, to have to come back to the community so that the community can approve or disapprove of what the District has done.
We urge the citizens of the Cambrian School District to join with us and vote no on Measure H.
