The Mountain View-Whisman School District's claims are rife with vagueness, threats and fear-mongering, and offer nothing to justify laying yet another tax burden upon the people.
The District says budget cuts threaten neighborhood safety. There's no evidence of this. Worse, this is a disrespectful accusation that our children are public menaces who, if they're not in school, will be out committing mischief.
The District claims there are no untapped sources of funds. Yet no one's discussed reallocating any of the $Billions and $Billions tucked away as off-budget assets in the state and local Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) portfolios.
The December 15, 2003, Wall Street Journal shows that higher graduation levels are generally achieved in states that spend less per student than what is spent here in California. They won't say there's a relationship between higher spending and failure, but many, including these people, will: Albert Einstein, Mark Twain, George Bernard Shaw, Margaret Mead, Winston Churchill, Ralph Waldo Emerson, and John Taylor Gatto (twice New York State Teacher of the Year).

By voting NO you send the Mountain View-Whisman School District the same message Governor Schwarzenegger sent the Legislature; "business as usual" is no longer acceptable. History proves throwing more money at education is not the answer. With 15% less revenue/student, Cupertino's Faria Elementary School is ranked first in the State! Mountain View-Whisman should learn to live within its means, as does Faria!
