Ever wonder why the middle class can't "get ahead", and the rich and the poor don't object to the high taxes of big government? Here's your answer.
Middle class can't "get ahead": The chart below illustrates how big government, which necessitates big taxes (FICA is really just another big tax), especially hurts the middle income class by depriving or impeding it from improving its lot in life, when it takes away discretionery income needed to pay for things like trade or professional school and special tools or equipment, personal improvement equipment or services, financing of a personal business, or to save money for financial investments.
Rich and the poor don't complain: The ruling parties (you know who they are) "buy" the votes of the poor and the donations of the rich by lightly taxing the poor, and heavily taxing the middle and upper incomers, then giving a portion of the booty back to the poor and lower middle incomers as subsidized services, grants, and giveaway programs, and to the upper incomers in the form of business subsidies and privileges. Many of the upper incomers who don't get the goodies directly get them through stock holdings, and anyway, aren't hurt badly because they still retain enough discretionery income after taxes. The poor don't know they'll be hurt in the long run because the Social Security Trust Fund they've been (not so lightly anymore) paying into via FICA will not give them the security they're counting on since it's not an actual fund, and must be paid from future taxes, when the lower proportion of young people working and paying the FICA tax will be too few to support the retirees. It's really a Ponzi scheme that would be illegal if it weren't the Republocrats doing it!
