A Program of the Libertarian Party of Santa Clara County
How Could You Be Worse Off With a Libertarian Government?
THERE'LL BE NO MORE FAVORABLE TREATMENT
of you by the government
If you're in a presently favored minority, no more laws or regulations favoring you
No more tax breaks if you are less successful than others
You may have to pay more for utilities like water, electricity, gas, and telephone based
on the free market instead of politics
YOU MAY NOT LIKE OTHERS TO HAVE FULL RIGHTS
to control and protect their property
Some owners may allow people to smoke on their premises and annoy you by it
Some owners may allow people engage in victimless practices that you abhor
You may lose a job because an employer doesn't like your race, sex, or you
You may dislike your neighbor's taste in remodeling his home but can't stop him via
govt
You may object to other car owners driving gas guzzlers to the detriment of the earth's
resources and environment
You may not like a wetlands owner driving an endangered species from his property or
you don't think he should be compensated if deprived of the control of his property
You may not like it if homeless people are driven off private property on which they are
squatting
You may not like allowing poor people to gamble money they need to support their kids
YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RESIST TEMPTATION
or control yourself, or may feel threatened if others have full
rights to control, protect, or put their body at risk
You'd feel threatened if others can bear arms and use force to evict people from their
property
You'd dislike seeing others risking their bodies and being injured, and suffering the
consequences
You'd dislike seeing others imbibe, ingest, or inhale what they wish
You'd dislike seeing others giving birth or not without government interference
You'd dislike others having sexual relations you don't approve of
YOU MAY DISLIKE THE THOUGHT
of the wilderness being owned privately
Because you think capitalist owners are so greedy for immediate money that they won't
care about the future price their property may bring if they deplete it of logable
trees
Because you think wilderness owners won't offer nature lovers access to their property
at a competitive price even though millions of people who now visit national parks
are to willing to pay for camping sites and entry to attractive areas.
Because you believe politicians and bureacrats will take better care of the wilderness
without wasting your tax dollars
